The investigation was launched following the killing of 11-year-old Palestinian boy Abdullah Hawash by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The incident occurred in the city of Nablus in the West Bank after the child threw stones at passing military vehicles. As IDF troops were leaving the area after completing an operation to capture a wanted person, a single bullet struck Hawash, who was standing about 50 meters away from the main road. According to the investigation by the Defense for Children International Palestine (DCIP), the bullet entered near the child's heart and exited from his back. The United Nations Human Rights Office stated that Hawash "did not pose a realistic threat." Prior to the incident, Hawash was riding a bicycle with his 12-year-old brother Nidal and his cousins. According to Nidal, he tried to hide his brother to protect him, but Hawash had started throwing stones while running away. Father Jamal told MailOnline: "I never thought I would lose such a young child. The pain I felt from the moment I realized my little son was dead is indescribable." According to local health center data, more than 42,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza so far, and over 96,000 people have been injured. This incident occurred amid Israel's retaliatory strikes against Iran and increasing tensions in the region.
