The happiness of Buca Mayor Görkem Duman and his fiancée, folk singer Sevcan Orhan, was interrupted by Duman's arrest. Görkem Duman, the Mayor of Buca Municipality who was arrested and suspended from duty as part of an investigation into the municipality, celebrated the birthday of his fiancée, folk singer Sevcan Orhan, from prison. In a post on his social media account, Duman expressed his longing for Orhan, who has supported him since the day he was arrested.
ARRESTED SHORTLY AFTER ENGAGEMENT
Görkem Duman and Sevcan Orhan got engaged on May 17, 2026, in a ceremony held among family members. While the couple shared the engagement news on social media, Orhan had previously stated that they were considering September for the wedding.
However, the couple's happiness did not last long. Duman was detained on June 1 as part of the investigation conducted into Buca Municipality and its affiliated subsidiaries.
ARRESTED ON JUNE 5
After completing his procedures at the police station, Duman was referred to the courthouse on June 5 and was arrested along with 42 suspects, including former Buca Mayor Erhan Kılıç and former CHP Buca District Chairman Çağdaş Kaya.
While Duman's detention continued, the message he sent from prison for his fiancée Sevcan Orhan's birthday drew attention.
“LONGING BURNS INSIDE ME"
In his post, Duman emphasized the support Orhan has given him since the moment he was taken into custody. Noting that his fiancée traveled hundreds of kilometers every week to visit him, Duman used the following statements:
“From the moment I was taken into custody, she has been with me every moment with her love, solidarity, and support. Happy birthday to my dear sweetheart, my beautiful wife, who visits me from hundreds of kilometers away every week just to see me for 1 hour.”
In the rest of his message, Duman expressed his longing for Orhan with the words, “I wished so much to be by your side today; longing burns inside me.”
“BEAUTIFUL DAYS AWAIT US"
Görkem Duman, stating that he believes the difficult days will be left behind, also sent a hopeful message to his fiancée about the future.
Duman concluded his post with these words:
“When these difficult days pass—and I know they will—very beautiful days await us. I'm glad you exist, my love.”
