A new investigation has been launched against Özgür Çelik, the Istanbul Provincial Chair of the NEW Party. While the content of the investigation, conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terrorism and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, has not yet been disclosed, Çelik said, “There is an investigation against me, I am not aware of the details.”
The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Terrorism and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau launched an investigation into YENI Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Ozgur Celik.
Celik, in his statement, confirmed that there is an investigation against him but said he does not know the reason for it.
Celik stated that his lawyers would try to learn about the matter on the morning of August 17.
SWITCHED TO YENI PARTY
On July 28, Ozgur Celik resigned from the CHP along with a large part of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Administration and joined the YENI Party founded by Ozgur Ozel. It was reported that 39 managers from the 40-member Istanbul Provincial Administration and 36 of the 39 district chairmen also left the CHP with Celik.
On July 31, Celik was appointed as the founding provincial chairman of Istanbul by the YENI Party Headquarters and was asked to carry out the founding activities of the Istanbul organization.
SILE MUNICIPALITY FILE ALSO SEPARATED
Celik's name has also come to the fore recently with another investigation. It was reported that within the scope of the Sile Municipality investigation, the file regarding Celik, who was the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman at the time, was separated from the main file. The prosecutor's office had assessed that the bribery allegation against Celik had no legal and factual connection with the Sile Municipality investigation.
