In the corruption investigation conducted in Iraq regarding former Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs, Adnan al-Jumaili, 20 million 340 thousand dollars, 200 million Iraqi dinars, and 60 kilograms of gold were seized. The investigation also mentions some parliamentarians, public officials, and contractors.
The investigation being conducted in Iraq within the scope of the "fight against corruption" continues.
20 MILLION DOLLARS AND 60 KILOS OF GOLD SEIZED The official Iraqi agency INA reported on the investigation regarding Adnan al-Jumaili, the former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil responsible for Refinery Affairs in the country.
Within the scope of the investigation in question, 20 million 340 thousand dollars, 200 million Iraqi dinars, and 60 kilograms of gold were seized.
In a written statement made by the Iraqi High Judicial Council, it was stated that the operation was carried out by the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court in coordination with the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
MPs, FORMER AND CURRENT PUBLIC OFFICIALS, CONTRACTORS... It was noted that the money and gold in question were seized within the scope of efforts to track and identify financial assets obtained as a result of the waste of public resources in projects carried out by al-Jumaili and other individuals involved in the investigation.
It was reported that some members of parliament, as well as current and former public officials, contractors, and department managers, are also included in the investigation.
In the statement, which reminded that arrest and search warrants were issued for some suspects after their immunity was lifted, it was stated that the investigation is ongoing.
Ali al-Zeydi HE HAD CONFESSED TO CORRUPTION Iraqi security forces, following the confessions of Adnan al-Jumaili, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil arrested at the beginning of June, raided the homes of some senior politicians and members of parliament in the Green Zone in Baghdad, where government buildings and foreign mission representations are located, within the scope of corruption files, and detained them on the grounds that they were involved in corruption.
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zeydi had previously given the message in his statement that corruption would be tackled.
