CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who addressed the crowd gathered in Saraçhane following the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu and the ongoing process that continued with his arrest, announced a boycott list that included the famous coffee chain EspressoLab.
HE HAD GONE TO ESPRESSOLAB AND SHARED A VIDEO
Following the CHP's call for a boycott, former Minister of Industry and Technology and AK Party Bursa Deputy Mustafa Varank had gone to a branch of EspressoLab with a group of AK Party deputies in Ankara. Varank had also shared a video he recorded there on his social media account.
INVESTIGATION INTO VARANK FOR 'COVERT ADVERTISING'
Following the relevant post, the Ministry of Trade took action and initiated an investigation against Varank on the grounds of 'covert advertising'. It was Varank himself who announced the decision for the investigation.
HE REQUESTED IT HIMSELF
In a statement he made on social media regarding the issue, Varank used the following expressions: "In line with the complaints and my own request, the Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade has initiated an investigation regarding my post and sent questions to me for response. It is already known to the public that the post was made not for advertising purposes, but against the hostile, discriminatory, and fascist political attitude of the CHP Chairman towards local brands. However, in order for everyone to understand the difference between covert advertising for material gain and this action, I will deliver the answers and information requested in the Ministry's investigation within the specified time and share the results transparently with the public. I thank the Ministry of Trade for their sensitivity."
