In Sakarya, the lifeless body of 15-year-old Kaan Ege Baran, who fell into the water and went missing due to a sandstorm while training at Lake Sapanca, has been found.
In Sakarya, during the training of athletes from the Sakarya Youth Center Sports Club, who are preparing for the Olympics with the coaches of the Sports Training Center affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a sudden sandstorm occurred.
7 PEOPLE RESCUED, SEARCH OPERATION INITIATED FOR EGE
During the storm, 7 athletes and 1 coach in the canoes on the lake fell into the water. While 7 people who fell into the lake were rescued, a search and rescue operation was initiated for 15-year-old Kaan Ege Baran.
DEAD BODY LOCATED
The search and rescue operations were carried out by a total of 117 personnel, including AFAD, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue, firefighters, Kocaeli and Yalova marine police, and the Sakarya Search and Rescue Team (SAKE), along with personnel from Ankara and Samsun police, using 11 boats, 7 drones, 2 sonar devices, 35 vehicles, 2 scooters, and 1 helicopter. As a result of the intensive efforts, the lifeless body of the missing athlete Kaan Ege Baran was found.
FOUND AT A DEPTH OF 8 METERS
The unfortunate athlete's lifeless body was found approximately 8 meters deep near the area where he fell into the water. Kaan's body was brought ashore by boat and sent to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
