The claim that Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal will join the AK Party ranks has dropped like a bombshell on the political agenda. According to the claim, Köksal, who held a meeting in Ankara with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will officially switch to the AK Party on Wednesday, May 13. Köksal's party badge will be personally pinned by President Erdoğan.

PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN HIMSELF WILL ATTACH THE PIN
Journalist Fatih Atik claimed that President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a meeting with Köksal in Ankara last night. According to this, Köksal will officially join the AK Party on Wednesday, May 13. President Erdoğan will personally attach the pin to Köksal at the AK Party's parliamentary group meeting.
Atik also claimed that Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özaslan, who resigned from the CHP, and other names will join the AK Party on the same day.

Meanwhile, a noteworthy statement came from the CHP Afyonkarahisar Provincial Directorate following the claims. The statement included the following expressions: "It is the most fundamental responsibility of our mayor, elected by the will of the people under the roof of the Republican People's Party, to exhibit a stance in line with the trust and expectations of the citizens who support him. We will continue to take a stance in favor of preserving the will expressed by the voters and maintaining the political line represented by the Republican People's Party. We respectfully announce to the public that we, as CHP Afyonkarahisar Organizations, will continue to stand by our mayor as long as he acts in line with the identity of the CHP, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's party, and the will entrusted to him by the people."
