After Rahmi Koç's "Kurdish woman" joke, attacks on companies within Koç Holding continue. An Otokoç dealership in Diyarbakır and a Yapı Kredi Bank branch in Istanbul Esenyurt were subjected to armed attacks. Following the successive assaults, police teams have launched an extensive operation to apprehend the perpetrators.
One more attack is added every day to the assaults targeting Koç Holding companies following Rahmi Koç's controversial "Kurdish female patient" joke. This time, two armed attacks were carried out, one in Diyarbakır and one in Istanbul.
Following the attack on the Otokoç car dealership in Diyarbakır, the Yapı Kredi Bank branch in Esenyurt, Istanbul, was also shot at. While no loss of life or injuries occurred in either incident, material damage was caused to the buildings.
OTOCOÇ DEALERSHIP TARGETED IN DIYARBAKIR
In Diyarbakır, an armed attack was carried out on the Otokoç car dealership belonging to the Koç Group by an unidentified person or persons.
No one was injured in the attack, but material damage occurred at the building. Police teams arriving at the scene conducted investigations in the area, while a broad investigation was launched to capture the attackers.
SECOND ATTACK ON YAPI KREDI IN ESENYURT
The second attack of the day occurred in Esenyurt, Istanbul. The Yapı Kredi Bank branch on Doğan Araslı Boulevard was targeted by motorcycle-riding attackers early in the morning.
Bank employees arriving at work in the morning noticed bullet marks on the windows and reported the situation to the police. The branch was temporarily closed for service, while crime scene investigation teams collected evidence in the area.
SECURITY CAMERAS UNDER REVIEW
Police teams have begun examining the security cameras of both the bank branch and nearby businesses. Efforts are ongoing to identify and capture the suspects who carried out the attack.
NOT THE FIRST ATTACK ON THE KOÇ GROUP
Armed attacks had also been carried out on the Otokoç General Directorate in Istanbul and a dealership in Antalya, both within the Koç Holding structure.
TIMING OF ATTACKS DRAWS ATTENTION
The consecutive attacks following Rahmi Koç's "Kurdish female patient" joke made during a hospital opening in Izmir drew attention. Koç had used the words: "The doctor listened to the Kurdish woman's ailment. When he said, 'Madam, go behind the curtain and undress,' the woman replied, 'Doctor, you undress first.'"
