As the war between Pakistan and Afghanistan continues, assessments that Saudi Arabia could be involved in the conflicts at any moment under the strategic defense agreement signed in September 2025 have come to the forefront of international public opinion.
As the conflicts between Pakistan and Afghanistan evolve into a full-scale war, the regional security agenda is being reshaped, drawing attention to a critical defense pact framing Saudi Arabia-Pakistan relations on the international stage.
DEFENSE AGREEMENT DRAWS ATTENTION
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan committed to mutual security through the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement signed in September 2025. According to this agreement, an attack on one country is considered an attack on both, adopting the principle of collective security. This clause signifies the formalization of the historical and deep security cooperation between the two countries.
The defense agreement aims to strengthen the joint deterrence strategy of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in the face of increasing security risks in the region, alongside years of military and diplomatic relations. Analysts indicate that the implementation of this pact will be tested by regional developments.
AIR FORCE COULD BE DEPLOYED AT ANY MOMENT
It is reported that Saudi Arabia is ready to send direct military elements, such as air forces, to Pakistan in support of its ongoing war with Afghanistan. While the Saudi administration accepts the collective defense mechanism under the current agreement, it remains uncertain whether it will engage in a concrete military intervention should the war with the Taliban escalate.
