Uganda Defence Forces Commander Muhoozi Kainerugaba drew reactions with his new social media posts about Turkey. Having previously written that he wanted Turkey's most beautiful woman as his wife, Kainerugaba this time said, 'I married five Turkish women' and used threatening language towards Turkey. Following the posts, Uganda's Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Turkey's Ambassador in Kampala.

Uganda Defence Forces Commander Muhoozi Kainerugaba is back in the spotlight with his posts on social media platform X. Sharing messages throughout the night, Kainerugaba made striking remarks about Turkey.

Having previously drawn backlash for demanding Turkey's most beautiful woman as his wife, Kainerugaba this time said, 'I have already married 5 Turkish women. It was an easy job.' The post was quickly shared by many users on social media and sparked outrage.

HE USED THREATENING LANGUAGE TOWARDS TURKEY

Kainerugaba's posts were not limited to comments about women. The Ugandan commander also shared threatening messages towards Turkey, stating, 'If they threaten us again, we will fight.' Claiming not to fear Turks, Kainerugaba asserted that Turkey should actually be afraid of them. In his post, he said, 'If there are more threats, there will be consequences. I will finish my business with Turkey soon. They must immediately hand over Lumbuye.'

HE SENT A TENSION MESSAGE OVER THE LUMBUYE CRISIS

Fred Kajubi Lumbuye, mentioned in Kainerugaba's statements, is known for his opposition to the Ugandan government. Having taken refuge in Turkey in 2013, Lumbuye was known for his harsh criticisms of the Ugandan government. Lumbuye was detained in Turkey in 2021 and was later alleged to have been sent to Uganda. After this process, claims of his disappearance emerged. It was alleged that the Ugandan commander spoke of deporting the Turkish ambassador and starting a war if Turkey did not hand over Lumbuye. These statements were seen as an unusual outburst regarding bilateral relations.

HE HAD PREVIOUSLY DEMANDED 1 BILLION DOLLARS FROM TURKEY

Muhoozi Kainerugaba's remarks about Turkey are not new. The Ugandan commander had previously written that he demanded 1 billion dollars from Turkey, claiming he would take diplomatic steps if this demand was not met. At that time, Kainerugaba said, 'Either they pay us or I will close their embassy here.' His posts demanding Turkey's most beautiful woman as his wife had also sparked major backlash on social media. Kainerugaba later deleted some of his controversial posts.

POSTS WERE INITIALLY THOUGHT TO BE FAKE

Kainerugaba's posts about Turkey were initially thought to be fake on social media. The absence of a direct crisis between Uganda and Turkey and the continuation of diplomatic relations between the two countries led to surprise at the statements. While the trade volume between Turkey and Uganda is around 50 million dollars, contacts in education and diplomacy also continue. Therefore, Kainerugaba's harsh and unusual posts drew attention in terms of international relations.

UGANDA'S FOREIGN MINISTER MET WITH THE TURKISH AMBASSADOR

Following the controversial statements, Uganda's Foreign Minister Odongo Jeje Abubakhar met with Turkey's Ambassador to Kampala, Mehmet Fatih Ak. In statements made after the meeting, messages were given about improving relations between Turkey and Uganda. This contact was interpreted as a step to reduce diplomatic tension after Kainerugaba's posts.

HE ALSO MADE HEADLINES WITH THE CLAIM 'I CARRY GREEK GENES'

Kainerugaba, who frequently makes headlines with his unusual social media posts, draws attention not only with his remarks about Turkey but also with his statements about different countries. Most recently, Kainerugaba claimed to carry 14% Greek genes and argued that Greece should not require a visa from him because of this. This post also became a subject of mockery on social media.

HE HAD PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED PROPOSING TO THE ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER

In 2022, Kainerugaba also came to the attention of the international public with his remarks about Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The Ugandan commander claimed to have proposed to Meloni with a bride price of 100 cows, saying he could invade Rome if his proposal was rejected. While these words were ridiculed in the international public, no official response came from Italy.

A PROMINENT FIGURE IN THE UGANDAN GOVERNMENT

Muhoozi Kainerugaba has long been a prominent figure in the Ugandan government. As the son of President Yoweri Museveni, Kainerugaba is often mentioned as being prepared for a more influential role in the country's administration in the future. However, Kainerugaba's unusual, harsh, and sometimes diplomatically risky posts on social media continue to spark debate both in Uganda and in the international public.
