After lawyer Hatice Kocaefe was killed by the man she filed an enforcement lawsuit against, a horrifying incident also occurred in Erzurum. A person who was a bank debtor attacked lawyer Taha Bağaçlı at a law office, saying 'I came to kill you.' The individual, who held a knife to the lawyer's throat, was released by the court under judicial control. Following the events, the Erzurum Bar Association shut down the CEMK system in protest.

The suspect, who followed the lawyer as he took refuge in the police station, was taken into custody but was released under judicial control by the court. The incident took place in a law office in the Yakutiye district. According to allegations, an individual named K.P., known to be a bank debtor, made threats against the lawyer during a meeting at the office. The suspect's aggressive behavior, including pulling out a knife from his waist, was recorded second by second by security cameras.
“I CAME TO KILL YOU” AND PRESSED THE KNIFE TO HIS THROAT
Lawyer Taha Bağaçlı described the events in detail in his statement at the police station. Bağaçlı stated that the suspect told him, “I came to kill you,” then pulled a knife from his pocket, grabbed him by the collar, and pressed it to his throat. Bağaçlı said the suspect continued his threats, saying, “There's blood on your face, I will kill you,” and noted that despite the intervention of office staff, the suspect did not calm down.
TOOK REFUGE AT THE POLICE STATION, SUSPECT FOLLOWED HIM
Bağaçlı explained that when the suspect refused to leave the office, he tried to block him by closing the door, and then left the scene to take refuge at the Yakutiye District Police Department. However, the lawyer stated that the suspect followed him, and the individual was apprehended with the intervention of police teams.
“ATTEMPTED PREMEDITATED MURDER”
After obtaining a medical report and filing a complaint, Bağaçlı stated that the suspect attempted to kill him, made threats, and violated workplace immunity. He also expressed that he requested a restraining order against the suspect.
RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
The detained K.P. was referred to the court by the prosecutor's office on charges of “preventing a public official from performing their duty.” The Criminal Court of Peace ruled for the suspect’s release under judicial control.
RESPONSE FROM ERZURUM BAR ASSOCIATION: CMK SYSTEM SHUT DOWN
Following the incident, the Erzurum Bar Association responded. The bar administration announced that it shut down the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK) Automation System in response to the attack. The statement indicated that assignment requests would only be accepted in writing from now on.
