In the Turkish Cup quarter-finals, Galatasaray lost 2-0 at home to Gençlerbirliği. With this result, the yellow-reds became the second team to be eliminated from the cup at this stage, following Fenerbahçe.

In the Ziraat Turkey Cup quarter-finals, Galatasaray faced Natura Dünyası Gençlerbirliği. The match played at RAMS Park was won by Gençlerbirliği, 2-0. 

ICARDI SHOT IMMEDIATELY BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

In the 31st minute, Sane's cross from the right wing deflected off Gençlerbirliği's defender Goutas. Icardi, finding the leather sphere near the penalty spot, shot immediately but the ball went over the bar.

AHMED'S SHOT FROM VERY FAR OUT WAS NOT ON TARGET

In the 40th minute, Ahmed Kutucu, receiving a ball that deflected off the Gençlerbirliği defense outside the penalty area on the left diagonal, took a shot from about 30 meters and the leather sphere went over the bar.

GENÇLERBİRLİĞİ TOOK THE LEAD 

The visiting team Gençlerbirliği took the lead in the 51st minute. Metehan's shot from inside the penalty area was parried by goalkeeper Günay, and Fıratcan, finding the ball in front of him, struck from the right diagonal inside the six-yard box and sent the ball into the net. 

KAAN'S HEADER GOES OVER

In the 58th minute, after a free kick taken by Galatasaray from the right wing, Kaan Ayhan headed the ball at the back post, and it went over the bar.

GOAL CAME BUT DISALLOWED

Galatasaray found the goal in the 72nd minute but it was offside. In a corner taken by Lang from the right wing for Galatasaray, Nhaga shot from behind the penalty arc after the defense cleared the ball; the ball rebounded off goalkeeper Erhan and Singo completed it at the goalmouth, sending it into the net, but the offside flag was up for the Ivorian player.

THE LEAD INCREASED TO TWO AT RAMS PARK

Gençlerbirliği increased the lead to two in the 83rd minute. In a corner kick taken, the ball slipped from goalkeeper Günay Güvenç's hands and fell to Traore. Traore's one-time shot found the net. 

GALATASARAY BIDS FAREWELL TO THE CUP, GENÇLERBİRLİĞİ IN THE SEMI-FINALS

There were no more goals in the remainder of the match, and Gençlerbirliği won the contest. With this result, Galatasaray became the second team to bid farewell to the cup in the quarter-finals after Fenerbahçe. Gençlerbirliği, managed by Volkan Demirel, advanced to the semi-finals. The capital team's opponent in the semi-final will be the winner of the Samsunspor-Trabzonspor match.
