The Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan has caused great unease on the Israeli front. Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli, speaking to Israel-based i24NEWS television, described Saudi Arabia's abandonment of its neutral stance in the region and its joining the same defense pact with Türkiye as an 'extremely dangerous and concerning' development for Tel Aviv.
Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli made striking statements regarding the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. Speaking to the Israel-based i24NEWS channel, Chikli emphasized that this new partnership between the three countries increases strategic risks for Tel Aviv.
Amichai Chikli "IT WOULD HAVE SEVERE CONSEQUENCES FROM THE MEDITERRANEAN TO SYRIA" Minister Chikli, who argued that Saudi Arabia has so far followed a neutral stance in the region, described the Riyadh administration's alignment with Turkey on the same side as "extremely dangerous" for Israel. Chikli stated the following in his statement:
"The Mecca Alliance is an extremely dangerous and worrying development. Saudi Arabia already had a defense agreement with Pakistan. However, the fact that it has started to act together with Turkey, which is directly opposed to us, in a way that could lead to extremely serious consequences from the Mediterranean to the Syrian front, is a very, very bad development for Israel."
CALL FOR A "COUNTER-ALLIANCE" TO THE TEL AVIV GOVERNMENT Stating that the Israeli government must act without delay following the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, Chikli called for new moves against regional balances. The Israeli minister expressed that it has now become a necessity for Tel Aviv to further deepen its existing alliances with Greece, the Greek Cypriot Administration, the United Arab Emirates, and Somaliland.
