Selma Ateş, the sister of Sinan Ateş, the former President of the Ülkü Ocakları who was assassinated in Ankara, filed a complaint stating that she was being followed, prompting the police to launch an investigation to apprehend the suspects. However, the Bursa Governorate denied the claim that the individuals following Ateş were deputy presidents of the Bursa Ülkü Ocakları. After taking statements from the 4 individuals, it was determined that 3 of them were municipal employees, while the other person served as a guide and had no connection to the Ülkü Ocakları.
On December 30, 2022, Selma Ateş, the sister of former Ülkü Ocakları General Chairman Sinan Ateş, who was killed in an assassination in Ankara Çukurambar, had filed a complaint with the police stating that she was being followed. It was learned that the police had started an investigation to apprehend the suspects, while a claim that emerged caused a great stir.
CLAIM THAT "THE FOLLOWERS ARE FROM ÜLKÜ OCALARI"
In the investigation conducted after the complaint, it was claimed that the individuals following Selma Ateş were identified and that these individuals were deputy provincial chairmen of Bursa Ülkü Ocakları. Ayşe Ateş, the wife of Sinan Ateş, also targeted MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın by saying, "The members of Bursa Ülkü Ocakları were caught while following Selma Ateş Abla. Your candle couldn't even last until evening prayer."
STATEMENT FROM BURSA GOVERNORATE
The claim that the individuals following Selma Ateş were from Ülkü Ocakları was denied by the Bursa Governorate. In a written statement made by the governorate, it was stated that "due to the news published in some media outlets on June 12, 2024, stating that the individuals following Sinan Ateş's sister Selma Ateş were deputy provincial chairmen of Ülkü Ocakları, it has become necessary to make a statement."
"4 INDIVIDUALS AT THE SOCIAL FACILITY WERE IDENTIFIED"
Upon Selma Ateş Kazanç's application to the Yıldırım district, Teleferik Police Station, stating that she was followed after leaving her mother's residence in Başaran Neighborhood, Bursa on June 12, 2024, and going to a social facility called 'Hünkar Köşkü' with her friends, 4 individuals at the social facility owned by the municipality were identified in the investigation conducted by our Public Security Branch Directorate. The statements of the individuals were taken, and it was determined that 3 of them were municipal employees who went to the social facility for the purpose of having a meal, and the other individual was a guide working at the Hünkar Köşkü Museum located next to the social facility. It was understood from the camera footage and investigation that they did not follow the complainant Selma Ateş Kazancı. The investigation is being closely followed by our Provincial Security Directorate under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office."
