Arrest warrants were requested for 11 of the 13 suspects taken into custody and referred to the courthouse as part of the investigation into allegations of interference with delegates' voting will at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party, following their statements to the prosecutor, while the release under judicial supervision was sought for the remaining 2 suspects.
An operation was conducted within the scope of an investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding allegations of interference aimed at influencing the voting will of delegates at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party.
13 SUSPECTS DETAINED
As a result of efforts by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch Directorate, 13 suspects, who were assessed to have committed crimes of violating the political parties law, accepting bribes, and laundering assets derived from crime, were detained. Search and seizure operations were carried out at the addresses of the suspects located in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Sanliurfa, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, and Malatya.
ARREST DEMAND FOR 11 SUSPECTS
Following their procedures at the police station, CHP Istanbul Provincial Vice President Melda Tanışman Tutan and Hayati Kaya, who gave statements at the prosecutor's office after being referred to the courthouse, were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for release under judicial control. Gaffar Çiçek, driver of CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba, Gülhan Aydın, Sadi Karayalçın, Suat Dülger, Kalender Özdemir, Özkan Deniz, İbrahim Şahin, Umut Sapan, Mehmet Ayıp Demirbüken, Metin Kaya, and Ayça Akpek Şenay were sent to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a demand for arrest.
