EuroLeague President Dejan Bodiroga and CEO Chus Bueno apologized to the yellow-dark blue fans yesterday in Athens during the Olympiacos-Fenerbahçe Beko Final Four match for the issues caused by the organization.
"I APOLOGIZE TO FENERBAHÇE AND THE FANS"
Responding to an AA reporter's question about the ticket crisis at the press conference held in Athens, Bodiroga said, "Of course, I apologize to Fenerbahçe and all Fenerbahçe fans for what happened. At the end of the day, we resolved the issue, and everyone was able to enter, but it certainly didn't go as we wanted. I apologize to Fenerbahçe and the fans for that."
Regarding the question about many Fenerbahçe fans unable to enter the arena despite having tickets yesterday, and the Fenerbahçe club management's criticism of the EuroLeague on this matter, EuroLeague CEO Bueno stated, "We apologize to the Fenerbahçe Beko fans for what happened."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Turkish fans with tickets were not allowed into the arena, obstacles faced by player families, and serious security gaps in the organization caused difficulties for the Turkish side. Many Fenerbahçe fans, despite having tickets, could not enter the Telekom Center due to the chaos and errors at the gates. Both Greek security forces and EuroLeague officials were unable to properly use the ticket control system, leading to major crowding at the entrances.
Greek officials, who did not allow Fenerbahçe fans into the arena, permitted Olympiacos fans to enter without ticket checks. Some Fenerbahçe fans were separated from their groups and seated alongside Greeks, highlighting a security vulnerability, while some tensions were prevented from escalating by police intervention.
