Ekrem İmamoğlu was arrested following a corruption operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and was detained by the Peace Criminal Court.
REMOVED FROM OFFICE
After his arrest, İmamoğlu was sent to Marmara Prison in Silivri and was removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul by the Istanbul Governorship.
PRIMARY ELECTION HELD
The primary election to determine the presidential candidate of the CHP, in which Ekrem İmamoğlu was the sole candidate, also began around the time of İmamoğlu's arrest. After the voting process, which ended at 19:00, approximately 15 million people voted.

In the continuation of the post from İmamoğlu's account, he said, "He told Erdoğan, 'enough is enough.' I send my greetings to the millions who are shouting in Saraçhane tonight and in squares across my country. That ballot box will come, and the nation will give this government an unforgettable slap."
