As diplomatic contacts between the US and Iran continue, the parties have escalated tensions with mutual attacks on the ground. After the US struck targets around the Strait of Hormuz, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on American bases in Kuwait. Following these developments, US President Trump said, "Iran really wants to make a deal."
US President Trump made evaluations regarding the negotiations with Iran in his posts on social media.
"IRAN WANTS TO MAKE A DEAL"
Trump stated, "Iran really wants to make a deal, and this deal will be beneficial for both the US and those who act with us."
"EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE"
On the other hand, Trump noted that Democrats and some Republicans constantly criticize the process, and that he is sometimes expected to act faster and sometimes slower. Trump, pointing out that such demands and comments make his job difficult, argued that everything will be fine.
DENIAL OF NUCLEAR CLAIM
In another post, Trump rejected CNN's claims that the draft agreement presented to Iran did not include nuclear issues, stating that the draft explicitly stated that Iran would not possess nuclear weapons.
Trump noted that the draft agreement addresses different aspects of the nuclear issue in a very strong and detailed manner, and that a significant part of the text is devoted to this topic.
US CONDUCTED ATTACK, IRAN RETALIATED
Prior to Trump's statements, the US Central Command CENTCOM announced that they struck missile ramps on Qeshm Island and Goruk Island in response to Iran's aggressive actions, including the downing of a US MQ-1 drone in international waters.
IRAN RESPONDED
Iran's response to these attacks was not delayed. The Iranian army targeted US bases in Kuwait. Sirens also sounded across Kuwait. The Kuwaiti army announced that air defense systems intercepted drone and missile attacks. Sirens sounded nationwide.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced that a US base was targeted in retaliation for the US striking a telecommunications tower on Sirik Island.
