Mikhail Shatsky, one of Russia's leading missile scientists, was shot and killed by a Ukrainian assassin in a park in the capital, Moscow. HE HAD BEEN WORKING ON UPGRADING THE KH-59 CRUISE MISSILEShatsky, who served as the Deputy Chief Designer at the Mars Design Bureau, was an important expert developing established guidance systems for the Russian military industry. He had been working on upgrading the Kh-59 cruise missile used in Russia's attacks on Ukraine to the Kh-69 model. HE WAS A CLOSE ASSOCIATE OF PUTINShatsky's death caused a significant stir in the Kremlin due to his close ties to Putin. While there has been no official statement from the Russian government yet, the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Agency (GUR) claimed responsibility for the attack.
