In Kütahya, one of the cats that Şükran Kavgacı had been caring for for years while feeding stray cats was brutally killed by unidentified person(s). The cat, whose head and feet were cut off, was left in front of the apartment building, causing great sadness and reaction in the neighborhood, while police teams began examining security cameras to identify the perpetrator(s) of the attack.
One of the cats cared for by Şükran Kavgacı, who feeds stray cats in the Yunusemre neighborhood of Kütahya, was killed by unidentified person or persons. The cat, whose head and paws were cut off, was left in front of the apartment building, sparking great outrage. Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
HORRIFYING SIGHT WHILE GOING TO WORK
The incident occurred in the Yunusemre neighborhood. Nurten Kavgacı, who left her home to go to work, noticed the cat lying motionless in the apartment garden.
Initially thinking the cat had been attacked by a dog, Kavgacı was confronted with a horrifying sight upon closer inspection. Seeing that the cat's head and paws had been severed, Kavgacı was deeply shocked.
IT HAD BEEN LIVING AROUND THE APARTMENT FOR 13 YEARS
It was learned that the killed cat had been living around the same apartment for approximately 13 years and was fed by Şükran Kavgacı.
Known in the neighborhood for her love of animals, Kavgacı reportedly had many stray cats spayed/neutered at her own expense and regularly provided food and water.
"IT WAS LEFT WHERE I WOULD SEE IT"
Şükran Kavgacı, reacting to the events, said the cat was deliberately left in a spot where she could see it.
Kavgacı said, "I gave food at night, and in the morning, my sister-in-law was there. She saw it while going to work. They placed it where I would see it; they cut off its paws. My brother and sister-in-law removed it so I wouldn't see it. I couldn't even look at the photo. They had no one who loved them. I cleaned the entire apartment just to take care of them. I helped everyone. I have no enemies. I only loved animals."
Stating that she does not understand why the cat was killed, Kavgacı asked for those responsible to be found.
Drawing attention to the fact that the cat was left in front of the apartment instead of being thrown in the trash, Kavgacı said, "Why would they leave it here where I would see it? They didn't throw it away. They left it there for me to see. Why would a person do such evil? I want those responsible to come forward."
Stating that security cameras would be examined, Kavgacı also expressed her own concern over the events.
THE WOMAN WHO FIRST SAW THE CAT DESCRIBED WHAT HAPPENED
Nurten Kavgacı, who first noticed the cat, stated that she encountered the horrifying sight while leaving home for work.
Nurten Kavgacı said, "I left home for work. I came to the garden gate, and as I passed, the cat was lying in front of me. For a moment, I thought a dog had mauled it. I looked thinking a dog had torn it apart, but no, it had no paws, no head. Just its body was on the ground. I was very scared."
Noting that Şükran Kavgacı loves cats very much, Nurten Kavgacı said, "Şükran is my sister-in-law; I was very upset because she would be sad; she loves them so much. I immediately called my husband. By then, my husband had come and put it in the trash."
It was learned that police teams had begun reviewing the security cameras in the area and that the investigation into the incident was ongoing.
