A security alarm was raised in Moscow, the capital of Russia, over a possible terrorist attack threat. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow announced that it had received credible threat information about an attack that could claim many lives and warned its citizens to stay away from a specific area. Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed that it had received intelligence from Washington about preparations for an attack.

U.S. WARNS ABOUT TSARITSYNO MUSEUM AND PARK AREA

In the security advisory issued by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, it was stated that the threat covers the Tsaritsyno Museum and Park Area in the south of the capital. The statement said that credible information had been received that an incident that could cause mass casualties could occur in the area on October 31.

U.S. citizens were called on not to go to the area in question, to stay away from crowded areas, and to be attentive to developments around them. The embassy also reported that the U.S. administration was in coordination with Russian authorities regarding measures to be taken against the threat.

FSB CONFIRMED INTELLIGENCE FROM THE U.S.

Following the U.S. warning, a statement also came from Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). The FSB announced that information regarding preparations for a terrorist attack in Moscow had been conveyed by the U.S. through established cooperation channels.

While the Russian security agency stated that necessary work had been carried out following the intelligence in question, it did not share details regarding the target, method, or individuals and groups that might be behind the possible attack.

MUSEUM AND PARK COMPLEX TEMPORARILY CLOSED

According to information in the Russian press, following the security warning, the Tsaritsyno Museum and Park Complex was temporarily closed to visitors. It was reported that entrances to the park area were restricted. Reuters, in its report citing security units, also reported that the complex had been temporarily closed.
