The incident occurred at a fuel station yesterday around 10:00. Serhat Elvan, a chief wrestler from Tokat, who was on his way to participate in the 20th Samsun Vezirköprü Kunduz Wrestling, the 6th stage of the Turkish Oil Wrestling League, took a break at a fuel station before going to Vezirköprü. While Elvan was sitting alone at the station, former chief wrestler Şaban Y. and his nephews Ö.Y. and E.Y., who were alleged to have been following him, also arrived at the station. An argument broke out between Şaban Y. and Serhat Elvan. As the argument escalated, Şaban Y., Ö.Y., and E.Y. attacked Elvan. The fight was ended with the intervention of those around, and a report was made to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Police and health teams were dispatched to the area upon the report. The incident was reflected on the fuel station's security camera.
'THEY HIT ME WHEN I TURNED MY HEAD'
Serhat Elvan, describing what he experienced, said, "I set out on Saturday morning. I was close to Vezirköprü Wrestling Arena. I wanted to stop at the gas station to have a coffee. I got my coffee and was talking to my wife on the phone. In the meantime, former chief wrestler Şaban Y. came to me, and I hung up the phone. While I was talking to my wife, he said 'apologize' to me. I said 'for what.' He said it was for the post I shared and asked me to apologize. I told him that there was no problem with the post I shared and that there was nothing to apologize for. At that moment, when 2 more people came, I heard the sound of a chair. The moment I turned my head, Şaban Y. and his nephews hit me. The incident started that way," he said.
'THEY THREATENED ME HERE'
Elvan, stating that he came to the wrestling in Vezirköprü to become first but was subjected to violence, said, "We are doing league wrestling here. This was really a very important wrestling for me. We are collecting points and we feel good. I had an injury, it had healed. I was going to the wrestling in Vezirköprü to become first. I experienced such an unfortunate incident. They threatened me here. Our masters were also here. May God be pleased with them, our friends also helped and separated the fight. They applied violence against me. This really upset me. I want our Minister of Interior, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Minister of Justice to deal with this incident. It happened to me, but I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else," he said.
'I FILED A COMPLAINT'
Also giving information about his post, Elvan said, "It was about 15-20 days ago. If I remember correctly, I wanted to end my relationship with ASKİ Sports. There was no malicious intent in my post. He took it personally, but there I thanked ASKİ Sports for the effort they have put into me so far, for paying me, for giving me training, and for providing me with a place to stay. I thanked our club president Abdullah Çakmak and my brother Ferit Keskin. There is no malicious intent here. He asked me about that post because I did not share his name. After that, he asked me to apologize to him. Such a situation happened. He came because of that post and attacked me. After the incident, I went to Vezirköprü State Hospital. From there, I went to the District Police Department and filed a complaint," he said. On the other hand, it was learned that after the complaint, the suspects' statements were taken at the police station, and they were subsequently released.
