Photos and videos of Nazar S., who was kidnapped by her father 7 years ago and held by her grandmother, from the last 1 year before her rescue have emerged. The images found in the grandmother's mobile phone show the child eating in a dilapidated house, swimming in a pool, and playing with her dog. Nazar was rescued in a police operation and handed over to her mother.
Photos and footage of Nazar S. (8), who was abducted by his father Umut K. (33) in Bursa and held for 7 years by his grandmother Hanife Taşdemir Stief (60) before being rescued from the derelict house where he was kept in a police operation, have emerged from the last year. The photos and footage obtained from the arrested grandmother's mobile phone show Nazar playing with his grandmother, his ride-on car, and his dog, as well as photos of him eating and swimming in a pool, which have been added to the case file.
ABDUCTED BY SAYING "THE CHILD IS MISSING"
Umut K., born to a Turkish mother and a German father, began living with Rebecca S. (30), whom he met in Germany where he was born and raised. The couple's son, whom they named 'Nazar', was born in 2018. A year later, Umut K. came to Bursa's Mustafakemalpaşa district with his German girlfriend to visit his mother Hanife Taşdemir Stief, who had remarried after separating from his father. Umut K., who did not return to Germany due to an arrest warrant issued against him for 'drug trafficking', did not allow his girlfriend to take their son and return. Umut K. told Rebecca S., who did not want to stay in Turkey, that their 1-year-old son Nazar S. had gone missing, and abducted him. After Rebecca S. went to the police and filed a complaint, she returned to her country, and an investigation was launched into the incident.
FOUND AFTER 7 YEARS WITH A SPECIAL TEAM
Umut K. died of a heart attack 2 years ago, and the Mustafakemalpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation to find the missing child. Within the scope of the investigation led by Chief Public Prosecutor Yusuf Canik, upon the instruction of Bursa Provincial Police Chief Kadir Gökce, a 6-person special team formed from the Robbery Bureau, Homicide Bureau, and Missing Persons Bureau offices under the Mustafakemalpaşa Police Department and the Public Order Branch Directorate, found Nazar, who had no trace for 7 years, in the derelict house where he was held by his grandmother, after 30 days of technical and physical surveillance and reviewing 300 hours of camera footage. The child was rescued in an operation on March 10, while grandmother Hanife Taşdemir Stief and Recai M., the son of the house owner's aunt, were detained and arrested. Recai M. was released pending trial after an appeal.
LIVES WITH HIS MOTHER AND SISTER
Nazar S., taken under protection by the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, was handed over to Rebecca S., who was confirmed to be his mother after a DNA test. While Nazar continues his life in Germany with his mother and sister Emilia Zafira, he attends kindergarten and receives German language education.
TRIAL OF THE GRANDMOTHER HAS BEGUN
The trial of the arrested defendant grandmother Hanife Taşdemir Stief and the non-custodial defendants Mustafa T., Ayşe T., Hanife T., Recai M., and Gülşen A. has begun, with demands for up to 12 years in prison each on charges of 'human trafficking against persons under 18 years of age'. After the defendants' statements, the hearing was adjourned, deciding to continue the arrest of Hanife Taşdemir Stief and the judicial control conditions for the other defendants.
NEW FOOTAGE HAS EMERGED
Meanwhile, photos and videos recorded in the last year on Hanife Taşdemir Stief's mobile phone have emerged. In the photos taken in the last year at the house where Nazar was rescued by police operation, he is seen eating inside and in the garden, cooling off in an inflatable pool, picking fruit from trees, and playing in the snow.
In the videos, Nazar is also seen playing and picking flowers. In another video, Nazar S. is seen playing with the puppy given to him by his grandmother Hanife Taşdemir Stief. Nazar is seen picking up the puppy, cradling it, and singing a lullaby.
The footage also includes moments when Hanife Taşdemir Stief sings folk songs, Nazar S. dances, and Nazar S. drives a ride-on car in the garden of the house. The videos and photos found in the arrested grandmother Hanife Taşdemir Stief's mobile phone gallery have also been added to the case file.
