An armed attack was carried out at a middle school in Kahramanmaraş. Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer announced that 4 people lost their lives and 20 people were injured in the attack. It was learned that the perpetrator of the attack was an 8th-grade student and came to the school with his father's weapons, who is a former police officer.
Following the school attack in Şanlıurfa yesterday, where 16 people were injured, an attack also occurred today in Kahramanmaraş. Gunshots were heard from Ayşer Çalık Middle School in the Onikişubat district. Upon the report, numerous police teams were dispatched to the scene.
CONDITION OF 4 OF THE INJURED IS SERIOUS
Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer stated in his announcement regarding the attack that 4 people lost their lives. Ünlüer noted that 1 of the deceased was a teacher and 3 were students. In the incident, 20 people were also injured, 4 of them seriously.
ATTACKED 2 CLASSROOMS WITH 5TH GRADERS
Describing the details of the incident, Mükerrem Ünlüer used the following expressions:
"Coming to the school with weapons, which we estimate belong to his father, in a backpack, he entered two classrooms, especially those with 5th-grade students, randomly and without targeting, and caused injuries and deaths by firing.
"KILLED HIMSELF BY FIRING"
The attacker killed himself by firing during the chaos. The 8th-grade student's father is a former police officer. We think he took his weapons. He came to the school with 5 guns and 7 magazines," he said.

3 MINISTERS ARE HEADING TO THE REGION
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, and Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu have set out for the region following the armed attack.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED
Justice Minister Gürlek, in his statement after the attack, said: "Regarding the armed attack that occurred at a school in Kahramanmaraş, an investigation has been immediately initiated by the Kahramanmaraş Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; 3 Republic Deputy Chief Public Prosecutors and 4 Republic Prosecutors have been assigned. Our Chief Prosecutor and the assigned Republic Prosecutors are continuing their examinations at the scene. A publication ban decision has been taken for the integrity of the investigation, and it is important for our press organizations to meticulously comply with the confidentiality of the investigation. Necessary information regarding all stages of the investigation will be provided by the authorized authorities."
