Members of a dance school who were having a picnic in a park in the Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır were attacked and then performed a dance show. According to allegations, a group chanting religious slogans attacked those dancing in the park. Two people were injured in the attack, and the Diyarbakır City Protection and Solidarity Platform issued a condemnation statement. The statement from the platform stated, "We will not remain silent against attacks that harm the culture of coexistence."

A dance school in Diyarbakır was reportedly attacked by a group who shouted "Allahu Akbar" while the members were having an event in the park.

A dance school that has been operating in Diyarbakır for 7 years organized an event called "Jazz Picnic" at Tema Park in the Kayapınar district the other day.

ATTACK ON THE DANCE GROUP IN THE PARK

During the dance performance at the picnic, a group allegedly attacked the group by shouting "Allahu Akbar". While the investigation into the incident, in which 2 people were injured, continues, Diyarbakır City Protection and Solidarity Platform, consisting of 116 organizations in the city, condemned the attack in a written statement. The statement emphasized that public spaces are open to the public, used for peaceful gatherings, organizing or participating in events, and for interaction among citizens.

The statement said, "Collectively, within the framework of the freedom of assembly, we do not accept a group coming to the venue used as an event area and physically and verbally attacking those in the park based on reasons such as clothing style and the nature of the event. We will not remain silent against attacks that damage the culture of coexistence in our city, which has hosted many civilizations and where communities with different cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles live together. As Diyarbakır City Protection and Solidarity Platform, we strongly condemn the physical and verbal attack on the event, which took place in a collective and peaceful manner within the context of the democratic right of freedom of assembly, and we announce to the public that we expect an effective investigation to be carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the perpetrators to be identified and punished, and that we are following the process."
