With the decline in oil prices in international markets, expectations of a discount on fuel have strengthened. According to sector sources, a 6 TL discount is expected in the per-liter price of gasoline. If the discount takes place, the new prices are expected to be reflected at the pump starting at 00:01 on Friday, November 6.
The sharp decline in global energy markets following the midterm elections in the US has brought fuel prices in Turkey back onto the agenda. With the fall in Brent oil prices, a significant discount expectation has emerged for gasoline prices. According to calculations by sector representatives, a decrease of 4.80 TL may occur in the per-liter price of gasoline.
THE NOVEMBER 1 PRICE INCREASE MAY BE COMPLETELY REVERSED
After the approximately 4.10 TL increase made to gasoline on November 1, this time a discount of a higher amount has come to the agenda. If the expected 4.80 TL discount materializes, the last price increase will have been completely reversed. Thus, gasoline prices will fall to about 70 kuruş below the level before November 1.
Sector sources state that there is not yet official confirmation regarding the amount of the discount and the date it will take effect.
EYES TURNED TO FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6
According to calculations in the fuel sector, if the discount is approved, the new price tariff is expected to be valid as of 00:01 on Friday, November 6. However, the official process must be completed for the price change to become final.
SHARP DECLINE IN BRENT OIL
The decline that began in global energy markets after the midterm election results in the US has entered its fourth day. The barrel price of Brent oil fell to 93.65 dollars after losing more than 8% in the previous trading day.
The decline in oil prices has strengthened the expectation of a discount in fuel prices in Turkey.
HOW MUCH WILL GASOLINE PRICES BE AFTER THE DISCOUNT?
If the expected 4.80 TL discount materializes, the per-liter price of gasoline is calculated to fall to 75.70 TL on the Istanbul European Side, 75.50 TL on the Asian Side, 76.70 TL in Ankara, and 76.90 TL in Izmir.
