The manager Ayşe Barım, who was detained on charges of being one of the planners of the Gezi Park events, was arrested on the grounds of "aiding and abetting an attempt to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey or to prevent it from performing its duties." At the same time, Ayşe Barım, who is also at the center of allegations of monopolization, had her WhatsApp conversations with other managers revealed.
Ayşe Barım, who came to the agenda with allegations of monopolization in the industry but was later arrested as part of the Gezi Park investigation, had her messages in the WhatsApp group she formed with other managers revealed. According to the news by Atakan Irmak from Sabah; the managers threatened the producers in their WhatsApp messages.
In the messages Ayşe Barım wrote in the WhatsApp group named "Agency Commission Issue Regulation" that they created on September 12, 2022, she stated, "Hello my friends, we have been experiencing serious problems regarding agency commissions for a long time, and I assume you are experiencing them too. Especially Medyapım and Ayyapım, even though we are pushing for the actors they want, our commission is constantly being questioned. Would you like to meet for this? Should we explain to the Producers Union in a meeting about the devaluation, increasing costs, and the fact that salaries have doubled, etc., which we are really struggling with?"
Later, a WhatsApp group named "Series Working Group" was created with the same names. A message was sent to the WhatsApp group stating, "Some of us know the issue but do not know about the meeting. Some of us probably do not know anything at all. The producers say they are determined to give a 10% commission."
Other managers sent messages to the group about how strong they were.
HERE ARE THE MESSAGES OF THE MANAGERS
Gülden Avşaroğlu: "We are 60 companies, friends. Realize your strength. Are they going to do it from Mayadrom? It can be solved in a maximum of 48 hours. The actor will realize that this missing 10% will eventually return to them if they have the math."
Kahraman Özden: "In fact, they shot themselves in the foot. As Gülden said, 60 companies came together, and they cannot resist such power. Since we all act with a common decision, I have no doubt that our actors will be on the same side as us."
Gülden Avşaroğlu: "If they can create a series cast from outside these companies, let them shoot, we will watch."
Ömer Duran: "This may have implications in terms of competition law."
Gülden Avşaroğlu: "But I say this is how we work. I am stating my company principle. I am talking about myself as a company. I think it’s the same as saying I only work with male actors."
Rabia Sultan Düzenli: "I think the producers asked us for a list of agencies that made this decision. We can provide a clear list by Wednesday. Well, they are asking who can get actors. Who is breaking the chain?"
Neslihan Uzer: "Just give it, 40 people are already coming. They can make a series cast with 10 agencies. I wonder what will happen next."
Tuncay Altunoğlu: "May the spoon of the one who turns back from the rice break."
