25-year-old open water swimmer Aysu Türkoğlu crossed the Tsugaru Strait, the sixth leg of the world's most prestigious open water swimming series Ocean's Seven, in 13 hours and 44 minutes, earning the title of the youngest Turkish athlete to achieve this feat. The successful swimmer now only needs to cross the Strait of Gibraltar to etch her name in history once again.
25-year-old open water swimmer Aysu Türkoğlu became the youngest Turkish athlete to achieve this feat by crossing the Tsugaru Strait in Japan in 13 hours and 44 minutes.
"AN INCREDIBLE STRUGGLE LASTING 13 HOURS AND 44 MINUTES"
In a statement from Aysu Türkoğlu's sponsor company Vestel, it was said: "Aysu Türkoğlu, who successfully completed the Tsugaru Strait, one of the most challenging open water swimming courses, by swimming approximately 45 kilometers against strong currents and high waves after an incredible struggle lasting 13 hours and 44 minutes, became the youngest Turkish athlete to cross this strait."
The statement reported that Aysu Türkoğlu now has only one course left in her Oceans Seven journey.
