She recalled that journalist Ertuğrul Özkök mentioned this information in his article regarding the interview he conducted with her, stating, "He visited my home yesterday and conducted a short interview. In today's article, he shared the information that Mr. Devlet Bahçeli called me twice while I was under house arrest. I did not provide him with this information." Gürses continued her remarks as follows: "He learned it from MHP sources, and wrote this article with Bahçeli's permission. The information is correct. Devlet Bahçeli called me twice during the month I have been under house arrest, inquiring about both me and my mother, celebrating our new year, and sending his get well wishes."

Journalist Özlem Gürses was detained in the hotel she was staying in Ankara, citing the expressions she used on her YouTube channel as the reason. It was stated that Gürses was accused of "insulting the institutions and organs of the state" and "publicly disseminating misleading information." According to a statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Gürses was detained due to her statements made during a live broadcast on her YouTube channel, where she said, "As you can see, the ISIS structure, that is, the TSK-SMO structure has made small gains in the regions where the Kurds are present."
