MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made striking statements in his first evaluation regarding the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Istanbul.
HE THANKED THE MINISTERS
Bahçeli, who made a statement on his social media account, said, "The earthquake that occurred at a magnitude of 6.2 in the depths of the Sea of Marmara today at noon has certainly worried our nation and caused fear among everyone.
Our consolation, apart from a collapsed abandoned building in Fatih, Istanbul, is that there has been no loss of life or property in this natural disaster.
Shortly after the earthquake occurred, we had the opportunity to obtain informative updates by calling our Minister of Interior, Mr. Ali Yerlikaya. Our state has practically gone on alert, and our relevant ministers and bureaucrats have intensified their efforts in Istanbul in coordination. I thank them all," he said.
"THE NUMBER ONE AGENDA OF ISTANBUL SHOULD NOW BE THE EARTHQUAKE"
Stating that "The earthquake is an undeniable reality of both life and the geography we live on," Bahçeli said, "We have no option but to make our future plans in accordance with this reality; to act cautiously, carefully, meticulously, and alertly.
Istanbul is the lifeblood of our Turkey, it is our main cause. The safety and well-being of this largest Turkish city in the world is also a guarantee of our country's survival level. Unfortunately, the last years of Istanbul have been wasted and squandered. Those who neglect their duties as the mayor of the city, driven by the polemics of daily politics, ambitions, and profit, have knowingly surrendered Istanbul to a whirlpool of risks, threats, and dangers.
We have time, but it is decreasing day by day. Urban transformation must be rapidly ensured. Social awareness for earthquake preparedness is of historical value. Acting with a spirit of mobilization for the defense and preservation of Istanbul is an acute necessity. It is possible to overcome potential disasters with state-nation solidarity, and moreover, by entrusting Istanbul to those who are competent and deserving. The number one agenda of Istanbul should now be the earthquake," he said.
"I WISH OUR CITIZENS A SPEEDY RECOVERY"
Bahçeli concluded his statement as follows: "God forbid, but being under this agenda will tie our national existence, our economic power, our social peace, and the indivisible integrity of the state with its country and nation to a thread of cotton and lead to devastating results.
The Nationalist Movement Party and the People's Alliance will work with all their might to protect Istanbul from the terrible consequences of natural disasters and to take proactive measures, and hopefully, they will succeed.
Our brothers and sisters in Istanbul should be at ease and not panic. My prayer to God is to keep us safe from what we fear and grant us what we hope for.
I extend my wishes for a speedy recovery to our dear Istanbul and its citizens. I wish a speedy recovery to the citizens who were injured during the earthquake.
It is near for the forgotten and abandoned Istanbul to give way to an Istanbul that is developing, growing, and achieving security."
