Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza plan.
In a statement on his social media account, the MHP leader said, "Separating the oppressed from their land and separating the land from the rightful owners living on it is a crime and a scandal with a very heavy cost and burden."
"THE WORLD CANNOT FIND STABILITY"
Bahçeli stated, "Such a reckless blindness poses a high risk of igniting the regional and global volcano, and it is inevitable that it will feed an atmosphere of horror in terms of its consequences."
The MHP leader reminded of the Jerusalem Pact proposal he suggested last year, warning, "If Gaza is separated from Palestine, neither the regional countries nor the entire world will find peace and stability."
"ISLAMIC COUNTRIES MUST RETURN TO THEIR ROOTS"
Emphasizing that there is no other way than a two-state solution, Bahçeli continued:
"No external or internal force can violate the clear realities of history, geography, and sovereignty, even if it is based on power and coercion."
Islamic countries must return to their essence, to themselves, to their roots.
No one, no country should make a wrong calculation based on the helpless and submissive state of the King of Jordan.
On this blessed night that we will spend in repentance and seeking forgiveness, my prayer to Allah is that He grants more guidance to the hearts of Muslims and protects us all from the threats of division, deception, and strife.
As we cleanse ourselves from sins, seeking refuge in the power of prayers and worship; we must eliminate the coldness between us with the grace of reason, thought, and the warmth of faith; we must build a wall against injustice and imperialist aggression with our blood and lives.
With these feelings, I congratulate our esteemed nation and the Turkish-Islamic world on the Night of Beraat, and I wish for the mercy, forgiveness, grace, and pardon of Allah.
With my wishes for it to be a means for our absolution and unity, I say, may our Night of Beraat be blessed."
WHAT IS THE JERUSALEM PACT?
MHP leader Bahçeli proposed the establishment of a Jerusalem Pact with the initiative of regional countries, including Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Egypt, in a statement made on August 5 last year.
Bahçeli stated, "The Nationalist Movement Party is the voice of the conscience of the Turkish nation, its foresighted eye. In this regard, stopping Israel, which destroys Gaza, harasses Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem every day, and does not show a peaceful face to the Palestinians in the West Bank, is both the desire of the Turkish nation and a minimum necessity for the peace of the region and the world."
Recalling that Turkey has always argued that the immediate establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital under the conditions of 1967 is the only option for lasting peace and resolution in the Middle East, Bahçeli said:
"Turkey is a sincere advocate of the Palestinian cause. The esteemed Turkish nation, with its government and opposition, continues this struggle. As the Nationalist Movement Party, we believe that the continuation of the environment of peace, prosperity, and stability in our country is closely related to regional developments. We attach great importance to the political and economic stabilization of the Middle East and North Africa region, where Turkey is located in the security ring, in terms of our national security. In this context, we also see the establishment of a 'Jerusalem Pact' with the participation of other Islamic countries alongside Turkey as necessary for our country's security."
TRUMP'S GAZA PLAN
On February 4, Trump stated during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House that the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip.
Stating that Gaza is now completely a destruction area, Trump argued that it would be much better for Palestinians in Gaza to go to new settlements to be built in neighboring countries, especially Egypt and Jordan.
Trump also suggested that Palestinians had no other option but to leave Gaza.
