The Ministry of Treasury and Finance Revenue Administration (GİB) has warned citizens and taxpayers against fake "you have a tax debt" emails, stating that transactions and payments should be made through the official website of the Administration, the Digital Tax Office, the GİB Mobile application, or through contracted banks. MINISTRY WARNSAn explanation regarding the issue was made on the Administration's website. It was reported that, based on news in some national media outlets and applications and complaints made to the Administration, fake emails were sent to citizens and taxpayers on behalf of the Administration, indicating that they had tax debts and attempting to defraud them by redirecting them to a fake site created by copying the Digital Tax Office's website (https://dijital.gib.gov.tr). PEOPLE ARE BEING DIRECTED TO FAKE WEBSITESIn the statement, it was expressed that taxpayers are being directed to fake internet addresses through emails sent in this way, and attempts are being made to capture their credit card and personal information. It was emphasized that taxpayers and citizens should be cautious against fraud and scam attempts aimed at obtaining financial benefits or credit card information using such or similar methods, and they should not trust such emails.PAYMENTS SHOULD BE MADE THROUGH OFFICIAL SITESThe statement highlighted the importance of making transactions and payments through the Administration's official website (www.gib.gov.tr), the Digital Tax Office (https://dijital.gib.gov.tr), the GİB Mobile application, or through contracted banks to prevent taxpayers from being victimized by such fake emails and websites. It was reported that taxpayers who receive such an email can call the Tax Communication Center (VİMER-189) for information.
