It has been revealed that Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, left the country and relocated abroad after his father's term ended. Information reflected in court records showed that Hunter Biden not only changed his residence but also faced a massive debt burden.
It has been revealed that Hunter Biden left the United States and moved abroad after his father Joe Biden's presidential term ended. Documents submitted to court last week formalized that the 56-year-old Biden now lives outside America.
COURT RECORDS CONFIRMED
In an ongoing legal case regarding unpaid attorney fees, a 14-page petition submitted by attorney Barry Coburn on April 6 included the statement, "Mr. Biden resides abroad." Coburn avoided providing details about exactly which country Biden resides in.
IS HIS NEW ADDRESS SOUTH AFRICA?
Although Hunter Biden's relocation destination has not been officially disclosed, he gave hints during a podcast he participated in in November 2025. Noting that his wife Melissa Cohen Biden is originally South African, Biden stated that he splits his time between the U.S. and Cape Town, saying:
"I fell madly in love with Cape Town. It is the most beautiful city in the world. I promised that we would spend time here when political and personal matters were over."
Hunter Biden also added that the house he rented in Malibu, California, was damaged in the major fire of 2024, so he could not return there anyway.
"SECRET SERVICE" TENSION WITH TRUMP
Hunter Biden's travels abroad were also on President Donald Trump's agenda. In March 2025, following photos of Hunter and his sister Ashley Biden in South Africa, Trump canceled Hunter Biden's Secret Service protection on the grounds that it was a burden on taxpayers.
The Trump administration, in its "365 Victories" list prepared to celebrate the first year of its return to office, listed as the 243rd item "the removal of Hunter Biden's taxpayer-funded protection."
EASTER HOLIDAY WITH FAMILY
Despite living abroad, Hunter Biden has not cut ties with his family. According to his sister Ashley Biden's social media posts, Hunter gathered with former President Joe Biden and Jill Biden in Santa Ynez, California, earlier this month to celebrate the Easter holiday.
HE HAD LEFT HIS FATHER IN VERY DIFFICULT SITUATIONS
The gun and tax cases opened against U.S. President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, occupied a significant place in both political and public agendas for a long time. The cases created serious pressure on the Biden administration and became one of the topics most criticized by Republicans, especially during the election process. Hunter Biden's legal process stood out as a file that directly affected his father's political career and frequently sparked debate.
As of 2026, Hunter Biden has ongoing financial and civil lawsuits. A debt lawsuit involving millions of dollars with Hunter's former lawyers, who is Biden's eldest child, continues. It is stated that the son Biden owes approximately 17 million dollars.
