The accident occurred near the Arifiye district; the skidding vehicle also collided with another car in the emergency lane.
The car driven by an infantry specialist sergeant collided from behind with a truck that had stopped on the road due to a breakdown at the Sakarya crossing of the Anatolian Highway. The 25-year-old soldier, whose car's roof was torn off in the impact, died at the hospital where he was taken.
CRASHED INTO A TRUCK PARKED DUE TO A BREAKDOWN
In the accident that occurred in the Fatih neighborhood of Arifiye district, on the Istanbul direction of the Anatolian Highway, a Toyota car with license plate 35 PTV 804, driven by Infantry Specialist Sergeant D.C.G. (25), who serves at the Istanbul 23rd Commando Brigade Command, crashed from behind into a truck with license plate 41 AST 264, driven by M.K. (59), which was stopped in the second lane due to a breakdown and marked with reflectors.
YOUNG SPECIALIST SERGEANT COULD NOT BE SAVED
The car, whose roof was torn off and spun out of control due to the impact, also crashed into the vehicle with license plate 54 AKG 100, driven by Ö.H.D. (20), which was in the emergency lane for the repair of a tow truck. The car driver, Specialist Sergeant D.C.G., who was seriously injured in the accident, was taken to Sapanca State Hospital after initial intervention by health teams at the scene. D.C.G. could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital and lost his life. An investigation has been initiated regarding the accident.
