In clashes that broke out in 2 separate prisons in the Cotopaxi and Pichincha provinces of Ecuador, 8 inmates lost their lives and 10 people were injured. The National Prison Administration (SNAI) announced that 4 inmates died in the prison in Latacunga and 4 in the detention center in the capital, Quito. It was reported that the inmates determined to have been involved in the clashes will be transferred to the high-security El Encuentro prison.

SIMULTANEOUS FIGHTS IN LATACUNGA AND QUITO
In a statement from Ecuador's National Prison Administration (SNAI), it was stated that 2 separate fights broke out in penal institutions in the country's Cotopaxi and Pichincha provinces. According to the statement, a total of 8 inmates lost their lives, 4 in Cotopaxi No. 1 Prison in the city of Latacunga and 4 in Pichincha No. 1 Provisional Detention Center, known as "El Inca," in the capital Quito.
10 INJURED TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
It was noted that 10 people injured in the fights were placed under treatment in hospitals. No information was shared regarding the health conditions of the injured.
THEY WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO HIGH-SECURITY PRISON
In the statement, it was expressed that the identities of the inmates determined to have been involved in the fights have been identified and that they will be transferred to the high-security "El Encuentro" prison in Santa Elena province. It was reported that the Security Block, consisting of Police and Armed Forces, continues security protocols and operations in the prisons in order to maintain order.
