The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been launched against Özgür Özel on charges of bribery, based on findings from the examination of Özkan Yalım's mobile phones. Due to lack of jurisdiction, the Prosecutor's Office sent the case files of Özel and CHP deputies Veli Ağbaba, Umut Akdoğan, and Suat Özçağdaş to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been initiated against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on charges of "bribery" following examinations of the mobile phones of detained Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım. The Prosecutor's Office issued a decision of lack of jurisdiction and sent the file to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
BRIBERY CHARGES AGAINST ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
The statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office included the following: "In the investigation numbered 2025/239999 conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, based on determinations made during the examination of the mobile phones belonging to detained Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım and the confessions of the suspects;
Regarding allegations that CHP Manisa Deputy Özgür Özel demanded financial benefits considered as political bribes from Özkan Yalım on various dates and that the requested amounts were delivered by Özkan Yalım, based on statements, HTS/base station matches, and messaging records, in terms of allegations that may necessitate the preparation of a report, CHP Manisa Deputy Özgür Özel is accused of the crime of accepting bribes,

Regarding allegations about the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party;
In the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party held on November 4, 2023, and November 5, 2023, actions aimed at influencing the will of delegates and rigging the congress were identified, coordinated by CHP Manisa Deputy Özgür Özel and Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba. Regarding allegations that CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan and Istanbul Deputy Suat Özçağdaş participated in the aforementioned actions, in terms of allegations that may necessitate the preparation of a report, it was decided that the file regarding CHP Manisa Deputy Özgür Özel, Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba, Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan, and Istanbul Deputy Suat Özçağdaş on charges of violating the Political Parties Law No. 2820, separated from the main case, be sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on June 4, 2026, with a decision of lack of jurisdiction."
