Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal, who is expected to join the AK Party in today's ceremony, has arrived at the AK Party headquarters.
The Mayor of Afyonkarahisar, Burcu Köksal, who was referred to the disciplinary board by the Republican People's Party with a request for expulsion, arrived at the AK Party Headquarters. Köksal, who decided to join the AK Party, is expected to have her party badge pinned by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
"I AM JOINING THE AK PARTY, I AM VERY AT EASE"
Allegations that Burcu Köksal, referred to the disciplinary board by the CHP administration with a request for expulsion, would change parties, had been widely discussed in the political agenda in recent days. Köksal put an end to the debates by stating in her statement last night, "I am joining the AK Party, I am very at ease. There was no longer any opportunity to engage in politics in the CHP."
"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL THREATENED ME"
Speaking on a television program in recent days, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel described the dialogue between him and Burcu Köksal and pointed to Köksal's spouse as the reason for this party switch. Responding to these allegations, Köksal said, "Let them first say who threatened me. Yes, I was threatened, but it was Özgür Özel who threatened me. When discussions about switching to the AK Party started 5-6 months ago, Özgür Özel wrote to me, 'I will come to power in 5-6 months and I will not forgive you.' He said, 'You will beg for my forgiveness.'"
ERDOĞAN WILL PIN THE BADGE
It was learned that the party badge of Burcu Köksal, who is reported to have decided to join the AK Party ranks, will be personally pinned by President Erdoğan at a ceremony to be held. Political circles evaluating this closely watched development believe it could also affect the balances in the Afyonkarahisar municipal council.
ALL EYES ON THE FORTHCOMING STATEMENT
The official statement regarding Burcu Köksal's membership in the AK Party is expected to be clarified at the ceremony to be held today.
