Köksal, the mayor of Afyonkarahisar who was referred to the disciplinary board by CHP with a demand for expulsion, announced that he will switch to AK Party tomorrow. Additionally, sharing the messages sent to him by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Köksal said, "My husband did not commit theft or corruption, nor did he cheat in a hotel. In his message, Özgür Özel said, 'You will beg for my forgiveness.' The 'Divorce' message was the mildest of Özel's messages. Özgür Özel made my life hell."
In the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting held at CHP Headquarters, it was decided to refer Afyonkarahisar Mayor Köksal, who is expected to switch to the AK Party, to the disciplinary committee with a request for definitive expulsion.
"NOW GOODBYE, LET HIM GO WHEREVER HE WANTS"
Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre, making statements after the meeting, said, "Now goodbye, let him go wherever he wants," listing the reasons for the decision. Emre stated, "Not answering calls, including our chairman's phone, hanging up, not responding to any news, causing such controversy for the party in public opinion—we concluded that all these constitute a party offense."
KÖKSAL SHARED THE MESSAGES SENT BY ÖZEL: HE MADE MY LIFE MISERABLE
Following the developments, the first statement came from Burcu Köksal's side. Speaking to tv100, Köksal shared the messages sent to her by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. Köksal said, "My husband did not commit theft or corruption, he did not cheat in a hotel. Özgür Özel said in his message, 'You will beg for my forgiveness.' The 'divorce' message was the mildest of Özel's messages. Özgür Özel made my life miserable."
"I AM SWITCHING TO THE AK PARTY TOMORROW"
Additionally, Köksal announced that she had met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and would be switching to the AK Party tomorrow. Köksal stated, "I am switching to the AK Party tomorrow. I met with the President. I said this CHP is not our CHP. I will do my job with the support of the state and the government. What matters to me is service."
ÖZEL HAD SHARED DETAILS OF THEIR PHONE CALL: I SAID, 'DIVORCE YOUR HUSBAND IF NECESSARY, BUT DON'T DO THIS TO YOUR PARTY'
Speaking on a live broadcast program about the allegations that Köksal would switch to the AK Party, Özel said, "I called Burcu Köksal, couldn't reach her. Her phone was off. There is immense pressure on all components of CHP, but we have no right to get tired or become evil." Reminding that Köksal had the highest-level opportunities within the party, Özel stated, "We conducted a survey when determining candidates. We wanted a correct and recognizable name. The party gave her every opportunity and made her group deputy chair."
Özel, noting that he personally intervened regarding the allegations about Köksal's husband, shared details of the phone call: "The AK Party media was talking about some of her husband's affairs. I called her and said, 'We will stand behind you. If your husband did something wrong, divorce him if necessary, but don't do this to your party. Don't be complicit in wrongdoing; the party will stand behind you like a wall.' However, at this point, Mrs. Burcu does not seem to be in a position to make a reasonable statement tomorrow."
