In a tragic accident that occurred in Guatemala, a passenger bus fell from a bridge into a river. Fifty-one people lost their lives in the accident. President Arevalo declared a national day of mourning.
At least 51 people lost their lives when a passenger bus fell into a stream from a highway bridge in Guatemala, a country in Central America. A passenger bus carrying 75 people fell into the stream from the Puente Belice highway bridge in the capital of Guatemala. Numerous ambulances and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. The Guatemala Fire Department announced that at least 51 people died in the horrific accident.
3-DAY NATIONAL MOURNING DECLARED
Guatemalan President Bernardo Arevalo expressed his sorrow and decided to declare a national mourning period of 3 days. Arevalo also assigned the military and disaster relief agency to support the efforts. The reason why the bus, which departed from the town of San Agustin Acasaguastlan, went off the road is unknown.
