Mersin Deputy Hasan Ufuk Çakır, who switched from CHP to AK Party, made a controversial statement regarding retirement salaries of 20,000 TL. Çakır said, "They keep stomping around with a salary of 20,000 TL. You don't live in Switzerland. Over there is Greece, and here is Armenia. When the Englishman comes, he will look at my honor, but he won't look at yours? Why don't you think about this?"
Mersin Deputy Hasan Ufuk Çakır, who switched from CHP to AK Party, responded to criticisms regarding retirement salaries at the level of 20,000 TL.

Reminding that Turkey is located in a difficult geography, Çakır argued that economic complaints should not overshadow security issues. Reacting to the discussions about retirement salaries, the deputy stated, "They keep jumping around 20,000 TL salary. You are not living in Switzerland; on one side you have Greece, and on the other side you have Armenia."
