The Turkish Armed Forces presented three conditions to the Shara administration for withdrawal from Syria. It was emphasized that if state authority is fully established in Syria, border security is ensured, and the threat of terrorism is eliminated, there will be no need for the Turkish Armed Forces' mission in Syria.
Security sources evaluated the recent developments in Syria and Turkey's roadmap moving forward. The sources emphasized that once the Damascus administration fully ensures stability and security across the country, there will be no need for the Turkish Armed Forces' mission in Syria.
According to the information obtained, elements from Arab tribes that joined the SDF have separated from the structure, leaving only the YPG on the ground. Security sources stated that the SDF needs to disband, expressing that the U.S. no longer supports this structure. It was noted that the U.S. had used the SDF to combat ISIS, and it was reported that Turkey's long-held view that "one cannot fight a terrorist organization with another terrorist organization" is now being accepted. Sources indicated that the YPG's attitudes have reached a point that even disturbs the U.S.
"THE SYRIAN GOVERNMENT GAINED STRENGTH THROUGH MILITARY OPERATIONS"
It was recorded that the agreement signed on March 10 aimed for integration, but the SDF did not take any steps during this process and showed no goodwill. After the deadline expired, the Syrian administration initiated military operations to ensure the safety of its citizens and public order, and it was stated that these operations were actually carried out. It was then mentioned that a new agreement was made on January 18, which included harsher conditions for the SDF compared to the March 10 agreement. It was reported that the Syrian government gained strength on the ground through military operations, while the SDF was cornered in the Hasakah and Ayn al-Arab regions. Sources emphasized that if the resistance continues, the SDF will be forced into much harsher conditions, and this is already being experienced.
"ONE STATE, ONE ARMY"
Security sources reported that the integration process would be conducted individually, that individuals not involved in terrorist activities would be accepted, and that the process would progress with the understanding of "one state, one army." It was expressed that YPG members have become accustomed to a comfortable life through oil revenues and profits from border crossings, and the fear of losing these opportunities could push the organization towards a more aggressive stance. Sources noted that the YPG has nothing left to do militarily on the ground.
THREE CONDITIONS PRESENTED TO THE SHARA ADMINISTRATION
It was stated that the conditions regarding the Turkish Armed Forces' presence in Syria are clear. Accordingly, if state authority is fully established in Syria, the security of Turkey's borders is ensured, and the terrorist threat is completely eliminated, there will be no need for Turkish soldiers to remain in the region. Security sources expressed that Turkey will continue to provide support as long as the Syrian government requests it.
It was reported that the Syrian government has begun to take over administrative responsibilities in the operation areas. As state authority strengthens, it was stated that Turkish personnel serving for support purposes would gradually return. Citing the example of Afrin, sources noted that Turkish police and gendarmerie, who were serving to support security forces in the region, completed their duties and returned to Turkey, and that the local security of Afrin was taken over by the Syrian government. It was expressed that Turkish soldiers continue their duties in the base areas.
