CHP Deputy Group Chair Ali Mahir Başarır responded to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's statement about him, "I will not forgive him alone." Başarır said, "I am 30 years younger than you. But I am giving up my seat. If you decide to hold a congress tomorrow, I am also leaving politics. Word of honor, Kemal Bey, word of honor. If you decide on a congress tomorrow, Ali Mahir is returning to his home in Tarsus, never to return."
After the absolute nullity decision in the CHP and the reinstatement of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as the party's General Chairman, the party has effectively split in two.
During the controversial release of Ali Mahir Başarır, in front of the CHP headquarters, he said regarding Kılıçdaroğlu: "If he beats up or has his friends, with whom he walked shoulder to shoulder for years, killed, may God curse him. This nation will not forgive him. History will not forgive him." It was learned that Kılıçdaroğlu reacted strongly to these statements and would initiate efforts to permanently expel Başarır from the CHP, reportedly saying, "I will not forgive him alone."
Başarır also responded to Kılıçdaroğlu's "I will not forgive" statement.

Speaking to Kılıçdaroğlu at a holiday greeting ceremony organized by the party's provincial presidency in the Tarsus district of Mersin, Başarır said the following:
"He only does not forgive me. Look, I am 50 years old. Kemal Bey is 80. From here, from my hometown, from the land where I was born and raised, I have a call. Since you cannot forgive me, since you do not want me, I have a proposal. I am younger than you, 30 years younger. But I am giving up my seat. If you call a congress tomorrow, I will also quit politics. My word of honor, Kemal Bey, word of honor. I will go home, to my children, to my wife, and hug them. Call a congress tomorrow, Ali Mahir returns to his home in Tarsus, never to come back."

Başarır stated: "Ali Mahir Başarır will be expelled. Only he will be expelled. Kemal Bey cannot forgive.
