Calls for pension reform are increasing! Employees have demanded higher salaries.

07.11.2024 12:40

The latest call for reform in the pension system came from HAK-İŞ President Mahmut Arslan. Arslan stated that the differences in pension payments that will arise in 2024 and 2025 should be examined, and that those who continue to work should receive higher salaries.

HAK-İŞ announced a report titled "Current Issues and Solution Proposals of the Retirement System" that addresses the problems and solutions of the retirement system in Turkey. Speaking at the introduction meeting of the report prepared by HAK-İŞ Academy, HAK-İŞ President Mahmut Arslan also requested that work be done for the difference in retirement pensions for those retiring this year and those who will retire in 2025.

"THERE IS A VICTIMIZATION"

HAK-İŞ President Arslan referred to the victimization experienced due to the lower pensions being granted to those who will retire in 2025 as a result of inflation.

"As HAK-İŞ, we see this issue as a need for a fundamental solution. Today, we are talking about a significant reform rather than just discussing the income loss, which can reach up to 35%, and salary loss for a worker who retires in 2024 if they retire in 2025." he said.

"THOSE REMAINING IN THE SYSTEM SHOULD RECEIVE HIGHER PENSIONS"

Stating that a fundamental regulation is needed in the retirement system, Arslan said, "Our regulation is this; the longer people stay in the system without retiring, the more pension they will receive. This is how it should be by the nature of the matter. Paying more premiums and receiving less pension is really not a correct attitude. This should be abandoned."

"WE HAVE EXPECTATIONS FOR REGULATION"

Arslan stated that they do not know why the government has gone into a waiting mode regarding the solution to this critical issue, saying, "We have only two months left. November and December. Perhaps a regulation can be made by the end of December. We have expectations. If it is not done, those who criticize early retirement, those who say that EYT has brought a new burden to our social security system, and those who blame the unions regarding retirees, who also blame us for defending EYT, for putting the country into a crisis." he expressed.
