In the case regarding the killing of Sabri Çelebi, known as 'Palalı Sabri' during the Gezi Park events, the prosecutor requested a life sentence for the detained defendants. It was stated in the hearing that the defendants were charged with armed assault and possession of unlicensed firearms.
The public prosecutor announced the opinion on the merits in the case regarding the killing of Sabri Çelebi, known as 'Palalı Sabri', who attacked protesters with a machete during the Gezi Park events. In the opinion, it was requested that the detained defendants Çetin Görer and Hüseyin Kırmızı be sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder'.
In the case regarding the death of Sabri Çelebi, who was shot 9 times in a fight in front of a nightclub on February 1, 2024, in Istanbul Beyoğlu, the public prosecutor announced the opinion on the merits.
During the hearing held at the Istanbul 20th High Criminal Court, the detained defendants Çetin Görer and Hüseyin Kırmızı were connected via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS). The lawyers of the parties and the relatives of Kaçmaz were present in the courtroom.
REQUEST FOR LIFE IMPRISONMENT
During the hearing, the public prosecutor announced the opinion on the merits. In the opinion, it was requested that the detained defendants Çetin Görer and Hüseyin Kırmızı be sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder' and to imprisonment of 1 to 3 years for the crime of 'possession of an unlicensed firearm'. The parties were asked for their defense and statements against the opinion, and they requested time from the court to prepare their defense.
TIME GIVEN TO THE PARTIES
The court panel, announcing its interim decision, ruled that the parties be given time to defend against the announced opinion and adjourned the hearing.
HERE IS THE REQUESTED PUNISHMENT FOR THE SUSPECTS
In the prepared indictment, it was requested that the suspect Çetin Görer be sentenced to life imprisonment and imprisonment of 1 year and 6 months to 6 years for the crimes of 'intentional murder', 'shooting in a manner that causes fear, anxiety, or panic', and 'possession of an unlicensed firearm'. It was requested that the other suspect, Hüseyin Kırmızı, be sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder'.
