After a 16-hour commercial shoot in Beykoz, the car carrying the crew members returning home collided with a dump truck. Of the 3 people seriously injured in the accident, cameraman Deniz Küçükler died in the hospital after 5 days of intensive care treatment. While the other 2 injured were discharged after their treatment, Küçükler was sent off on his final journey with a funeral ceremony held in his hometown of Devrek, Zonguldak.

Camerman Deniz Küçükler (28), who was injured in an accident in Istanbul's Beykoz district and died in the hospital 5 days after being taken into treatment, was laid to rest in his hometown of Devrek, Zonguldak.

THEY HAD FINISHED A 16-HOUR SHIFT

The accident occurred around 01:30 on August 16 on Sırmakeş Street in Mahmutşevketpaşa Neighborhood. According to allegations, the film crew, who were shooting a commercial at a villa in Riva, set off to return home after a 16-hour shift. The car with license plate 34 EER 55, driven by cameraman Deniz Küçükler and heading towards the Northern Marmara Motorway, collided with a dump truck with license plate 34 EGU 832 that was emerging from a side street onto the main road.

3 FRIENDS WERE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

Upon the notification, police, fire brigade, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Deniz Küçükler, who was trapped in the car, was extracted by firefighters and handed over to medical teams. Küçükler, seriously injured in the accident, and his colleagues Melih Özhan Dinçel and Ümit Barlas were taken to Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital by ambulances after initial on-site intervention.

BRAIN DEATH OCCURRED, ORGAN DONATION PROCESS BEGAN

Deniz Küçükler, who suffered a brain hemorrhage due to the impact of the accident and underwent surgery, continued treatment in the intensive care unit. Küçükler, who was treated in intensive care for 5 days, passed away on August 21.

COLLEAGUES WERE DISCHARGED

Ümit Barlas, one of the crew members injured in the accident, was discharged from the hospital after treatment for fractures in his arm. It was learned that Melih Özhan Dinçel, who suffered lung damage and fractures in his body, was also discharged after his treatment was completed. It was stated that the driver of the dump truck, who was detained after the accident, was still undergoing procedures at the police station.

Deniz Küçükler's body was brought to his hometown of Devrek, Zonguldak. The funeral prayer for Küçükler was held today at the Central New Mosque.

 

BID FAREWELL IN TEARS

The funeral was attended by Devrek Mayor Özcan Ulupınar, Deniz Küçükler's colleagues who came from Istanbul, and his loved ones. Küçükler's relatives received condolences by the coffin.

After the funeral prayer held at noon, Deniz Küçükler's body was laid to rest in the city cemetery.
