Istanbul MP Cemal Enginyurt and Izmir MP Salih Uzun, who resigned from the Democratic Party, joined the CHP. The badges were presented to Enginyurt and Uzun by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. In his speech, Enginyurt stated, "We did not come to resemble the CHP or to make the CHP resemble us. We came to the party of the great man Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with blonde hair and blue eyes."

Recently, there has been ongoing activity regarding resignations and transfers of members of parliament and senior executives among political parties. Cemal Enginyurt, the Istanbul MP who resigned from the Democratic Party, and Salih Uzun, the Izmir MP, joined the CHP. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel pinned the badges of Enginyurt and Uzun before starting his speech at the party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Özel stated, "We are developing a stance against attempts to fragment the opposition."

"I CAME TO FIGHT TOGETHER"

Salih Uzun said, "I did not come here completely changed, nor did I come to change you. Why did I come? Because the only thing to do today is to unite, to show solidarity, and to resist together; not separately."

"WE CAME TO CHP, THE LAST FORTRESS OF LIBERATION"

After Uzun, Enginyurt took the podium and began his speech with the lyrics of the İzmir March, continuing: "Mr. Chairman (Özgür Özel) has suffered a lot from me in the past. I thank Özgür Özel once again. He has reconciled with me by giving up his cause. Have you reconciled with those in Soma, have you reconciled with the 78 lives we lost in Bolu, have you reconciled with our brother Mert who was eliminated in the interview? We did not come to resemble the CHP, nor to make the CHP resemble us. We came to the party of the great man Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with yellow hair and blue eyes. We came to CHP, the last fortress of liberation. We are in a time where we should not be fighting over small and big issues. As Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli said, it is our time to be one, to be large, to be alive. The one above us says either you belong to me or you belong to the black earth. We will not belong to either you or the black earth. We came to be soldiers of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. They ask us, 'Aren't you afraid?' We defeated fear in Kerbala. We came to be like Hussein, who was martyred in Kerbala, rather than living in palaces and being like Yazid. We were elected with the legitimate votes of the CHP. We did not turn those votes into illegitimate ones."
