China's space initiative! A 12-minute journey for $140,000.

China has taken a bold step in the space tourism sector. The country plans to offer a 12-minute space journey for $140,000. This move by China could lead to the increasing popularity of space travel and the emergence of a new market in this field.

According to the state-owned Global Times in China, tickets priced at 1,000,000 yuan (approximately 140,000 dollars) for a journey of about 12 minutes to the edge of space with a spacecraft to be launched by Deep Blue Aerospace in 2027 were "sold out" instantly.

About 3 million people watched the broadcast made through the Chinese shopping platform Taobao, marking the first time a Chinese company has offered tickets for space tourism for public sale. The identities of the ticket buyers were not disclosed.

Deep Blue Aerospace is among the pioneers of Chinese commercial space companies developing rockets to power ambitious space plans, including building satellite constellations to compete with the American company SpaceX's Starlink, at a time when China is racing to become a dominant space power alongside the U.S. There are tasks that need to be completed to meet the timeline announced by the company.

5 PEOPLE WILL TRAVEL TO SPACE

Deep Blue Aerospace's reusable Nebula-1 rocket is planned to carry the company's CEO and five people to space for a mission within three years. The company, which announced last month that the rocket failed to complete its high-altitude vertical recovery test flight, released footage showing the vehicle falling during its final phase. While a new test is planned for next month, the company stated that it will increase testing in 2025 and 2026 to ensure the "safety and reliability of suborbital human travel."
