It has been reported that the number of people who have died due to the cholera outbreak in Ghana, a country in West Africa, has risen to 40.
In a written statement from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), it was noted that the cholera outbreak has continued to spread to 5 regions of the country since October 2024. The statement indicated that 4,850 suspected cholera cases have been reported in these regions, and the number of fatalities in the outbreak has increased to 40. THE BACTERIA CAUSING CHOLERA IS TRANSMITTED THROUGH FOOD AND WATERThe statement emphasized that the government is continuing vaccination campaigns against the outbreak, and it was reported that 41 people have been hospitalized in the capital, Accra, due to the outbreak. Cholera, caused by the "vibrio" bacteria transmitted through food and water, leads to diarrhea and consequently loss of body fluids. If the disease is not treated, it can be fatal.
