A corruption investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is ongoing.
It has been reported that Ahmet Can Ağbaba, the nephew of CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba, has been detained as part of the investigation.
It was learned that large amounts of money of unknown origin were detected entering the suspect's account.
HIS CHIEF ADVISOR WAS ALSO ARRESTED
In the 'bribery' investigation targeting İzmir's CHP-controlled Seferihisar Municipality, Ağbaba's advisor Özlem Akyılmaz had been arrested. In her testimony, Akyılmaz denied the bribery allegations, claiming that the bank transfers in question were made to be given as scholarships to earthquake-affected students.
"500 THOUSAND LIRA IS NOT A BRIBE"
According to the testimony of E.A., who was previously arrested in the same investigation, Akyılmaz, who claimed that the 500 thousand lira sent to her bank account in exchange for issuing occupancy permits for 6 villas built in Seferihisar was not a 'bribe', stated that the money was sent for citizens and students in Malatya affected by the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023.
Regarding transferring this money to the personal account of Veli Ağbaba, whom she advised, approximately 1.5 hours later on the same day, Akyılmaz claimed that she conducted Ağbaba's mobile banking transactions, used Ağbaba's high-limit credit card due to insufficient limits while loading earthquake-affected students' spending cards, sent the money to Ağbaba's account for this reason, and informed the deputy about the situation later.
CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION INTO ANTALYA MUNICIPALITY
Muhittin Böcek's daughter-in-law Zuhal Böcek also claimed in her testimony that Ağbaba's wife demanded 1 million euros from Gökhan Böcek on behalf of Özgür Özel.
