U.S. President Donald Trump attended the musical Les Misérables, staged at the famous Kennedy Center in Washington, with his wife Melania Trump. However, some actors, upon learning that Trump would attend the show, made headlines by refusing to take the stage in a notable protest.

Trump's presence on the opening night of Les Misérables, one of his favorite musicals, was met with backlash from some actors. They announced that they would not participate in the show to protest Trump's policies, particularly his interventions in the cultural and artistic fields.

However, Trump did not pay attention to the protest news. While entering the hall in his stylish black tuxedo, he stated to reporters,

"I don't care at all. I'm just focused on running the country well,"

he expressed.

Melania Trump also attended the evening in a black, sleeveless, elegant dress and silver heels.

In February, Trump had appointed himself as the president of the Kennedy Center, stating that the center was in "bad shape" and promised a major restoration. This event was the first official visit following that appointment.

Trump had also sparked controversy with the changes he made in the cultural field. Particularly, reshaping the center through a board he established after dismissing the previous administration had drawn significant backlash from the art community. Trump claimed that the former administration allowed drag shows targeting young people.

It wasn't just the actors who opposed Trump's cultural policies. Some drag artists also attended the opening night as spectators to continue their protests. In videos shared on social media, these artists were seen receiving applause from some audience members as they entered the hall.

A total of 10 million dollars was raised during the glamorous night. Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance were also present at the event.
